"Humanism" asserts the value and dignity of all people. To approach a situation "humanistically" means to place the highest importance on personal integrity, and the innate worth of everyone involved. It is demonstrated through the expression of empathy, authenticity, and commitment.
Integrity is at the very heart of HORN's approach to the topic of influence. Although our focus is on behaviour, it is not on "technique". For example, HORN's belief is that salespeople should not use "techniques" to build rapport. Instead, they should build their skill to orient themselves at the beginning of a dialogue, such that their motives are to serve and to be authentic–rapport is a natural consequence. This approach is most suited to fostering long-term relationships.
HI is about personal accountability, stewardship, and identifying with others.
HORN's approach to putting HI into action is through Goal-Alignment-Based Influence (GABI). GABI is both a tool that measures an individual's aptitude to influence humanistically, and a way to influence humanistically.
The GABI tool allows individuals to measure where they already are–a benchmark. The GABI training teaches them to leverage their strongest GABI predispositions, and develop those which are naturally secondary, to become a better humanistic influencer.
